“Tink? Is it
you? Is it really you?” he questions
“Peter, that’s
a silly question, don’t you think? If it isn’t me, who would it be?” Tinkerbell
replies as she flies around Peter as if sizing him up.
“Tink, they
took the children. They say they are Hook, but Hook is dead isn’t he?” Peter
asks as he paces the floor worried about the children.
“Yes Peter,
Hook is dead and buried at sea, but the son of Hook has come for you, don’t you
see?” Tink exclaims as she lands on Peters shoulder fluttering her wings.
“Why didn’t
you tell me Tink? You said you would be there, between sleep and awake, but you
never were.” Peter says softly as he sits down in a chair and lowers his head.
Lost in his thoughts staring at the floor.
“I was there
Peter, I was always there, but you never called for me. I was unable to come on
my own, till now” Tink whispers in his ear.
“I’m sorry
Tink” Peter begins “I just ……..” he fidgets in his seat.
Tink
interrupts “No time for that, you will see. You MUST save Neverland, come on
Peter, come fly with me!” Tink exclaims using all her breath
“I’m too old
Tink, I’m much too old” Peter replies as he looks in a mirror. Ruffles his
thinning grey hair; suit sits on his weakened hunched body. “I am no match for
the son of Hook, Tink, just look at me” he finishes
“No, no, none
of that.” Tink says, “Besides, some old friends want to say hello. Do you
remember Peter? Do you remember how to fly? Just one happy thought and you soar
into the sky!” Tink shouts as she flies above Peter and covers him in pixie
dust.
Peter sits for
a moment in thought, and then bursts out into laughter.
“Yes Tink, yes
I do” Peter answers “Now that I’ve got my happy thought. Second star to the
right and straight on till morning. Now, here we go!”
And off they
went, high into the sky. Soaring over the tops of the buildings, into the
clouds, and off to Neverland.
